The Sierra Vista Environmental Operations Park (EOP), also known as the waste water treatment plant, is open for bird walks each Sunday morning.  The walks take about 2.5 hours and are led by docents from Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory (SABO), Huachuca Audubon Society (HAS) and the Friends of the San Pedro River (FSPR).

The walk begins at 8 a.m. and departs from the viewing platform inside the EOP. The entrance is located on SR 90 between mileage markers 324 and 325 on the north side of the highway. All tours are FREE, although SABO, HAS and FSPR all accept donations.

The walks are limited to 20 people and are filled on a first come, first served basis. Special walks for large groups and walks on days other than Sunday can be

The parade starts at 9 am at the intersection of Fry Blvd. and 7th Street and will proceed down Fry to Veteran’s Memorial Park. Birders of all levels are invited to participate in upcoming bird walks sponsored by the Friends of the San Pedro River. A walk is scheduled for November 11 and departs from the San Pedro House, 9800 E. Hwy. 90, Sierra Vista at 8:00 am. This event, a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Sierra Vista, will feature more than 200 wines.  The Rendezvous, 40 Avenida Escuela, 3-6 p.m.  Tickets $35 in advance, $45 at the door.  Tickets at Safeway, Ace Hardware, and the Boys and Girls Club.

Join docents from the Friends of the San Pedro River on an interpretive walk along the river November 7 and 14. The walk departs from the San Pedro House near Sierra Vista at 9:00 am.

The San Pedro River features some of the richest wildlife habitat in the United States. Here you'll find 82 species of mammals, dozens of reptiles and amphibians and nearly 350 species of birds. It is the last free flowing river in the Southwest and has been designated one of the Last Great Places by the Nature Conservancy.

There is no charge for the walk, however donations are accepted to support the docent programs. Dress appropriately for the weather, bring drinking water and use sun protection. For more information call (520) 459-2555.
