The Sierra Vista Environmental Operations Park (EOP), also known as the waste water treatment plant, is open for bird walks each Sunday morning. The walks are led by docents from Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory (SABO), Huachuca Audubon Society (HAS) and the Friends of the San Pedro River (FSPR).

When: 7 a.m. Allow at least 2 ½ hours
Where: EOP, Highway 90 between mileage markers 324 and 325 on the north side of the highway

Add Item To Your Planner SierraVista Hummingbird Banding on Fort Huachuca

The public is invited to get an up-close look at the catch, band, weigh, measure and release by scientists of the tiny birds for research purposes.

When: ½ hour after sunrise to approximately 10:00 a.m.
Where: South end of Brown Parade Field, in front of the Public Affairs Office, Fort Huachuca

Add Item To Your Planner SierraVista UofA Wildcats Practice at Fort Huachuca

After the success of the past two camps, the University of Arizona football team comes back to Fort Huachuca for the third time to hold a pre-season camp Aug. 11-15.

Practice begins Thursday, August 12,  at 7:30 a.m. with another session scheduled at 6:15 p.m. on Warrior/Sentinel Field. Friday's practice is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.

The public is invited to watch the practices on Fort Huachuca.  Visitors to the fort must present a driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.

The Wildcats will scrimmage against the Buena High School Colts at the Buena High School football field at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, August 14.

When:  Practices Aug. 12, 7:30 a.m. , 6:15 p.m., Aug. 13, 8 a.m.  Scrimmage Aug. 14, 4:30 p.m.

Add Item To Your Planner SierraVista Hummingbird Banding at San Pedro House
Up to 10 species of hummingbirds use the green corridor of the San Pedro River as a freeway between their tropical winter retreats and their northern nesting grounds. The public is invited to get a close-up look at these tiny travelers as staff and volunteers from the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory capture, band, weigh, measure, and release them as part of long-term studies of the bird life of this vital migration route.
 
When: 4-6 p.m.

Join docents on a two-mile interpretive walk over easy terrain along the river every Saturday morning. The San Pedro River features some of the richest wildlife habitat in the United States.   Wear appropriate attire for hiking and weather conditions.  Bring at least one quart of water per person.
